With Bharatiya Janata Party, BJP coming to power in the centre, BJP, Manipur State Unit, which used to look deserted for more than a decade with no MLA or MP in the state, has opened its account for the first time in the Kakching Municipal bye election declared today by winning the councillor seat of Ward no 7 .
BJP candidate Sandam Premita won the municipal bye election of Ward no 7 defeating the Congress Candidate by leading 242 margins.
The newly elected BJP councillor was warmly received today at the BJP state unit office located at NItyaipat Chuthek, Imphal.
With the party winning the municipal bye-election, it has eyed for Hiyanglam AC bye-election to open its account of MLA seat in the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
Addressing the media persons, BJP Manipur president Th.Chaoba said that the success of the BJP candidate in the bye lection is a signal of the people rejecting Congress which always manages to win votes by way of money and muscle power.
Although the bye election was small, it was a big fight between the ruling congress and BJP.
For Congress, the election was a question of prestige.
Public sympathy with BJP has been witnessed with the party winning the bye-election wherein the ruling congress party invested huge money and muscle power.
This time, people have started rejecting Congress, chaoba said.
While slamming the Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi and his government as hopeless from which people can expect nothing, chaoba said that Manipur CM announced construction of the much hyped Sports varsity at Kakching to win the voters ahead of the approval from the centre regarding construction site.
As a part of BJP led NDA government's nationwide campaign on 'Stop Corruption, Clean India', the party the centre has started to book the corrupted officials.
The 16 hour long CBI raid against RIMS officials including former Director Dr.Sekharjit was part of the NDA government's commitment to root out corruption.
It's just the beginning.
Centre will take up actions regarding Loktak Phumdi scam, Bribery in appointment, Misappropriation of MGNREGS funds etc one after another, added Chaoba.
With the Kakching municipal bye-election giving a green signal to BJP, he also assured that the party will open its account in the Hiyanglam AC bye election to be held on October 15 this year.
So far, four candidates including Maibam Dhanabir son of late sitting MLA Kunjo, L.Ashokumar and Dr.Yumnam Radheshyam have applied for BJP ticket.
The decision pertaining to whom the ticket would be given will be announced on September 21 by the central high command, he said.
