Dr Paul takes oath as acting Governor

Dr Krishna Kant Paul, who is presently serving as Governor of Meghalaya and also holding the additional charge Governor of Mizoram, was sworn in as the acting Governor of Manipur in a simple but impressive swearing-in ceremony held at Durbar Hall of Raj Bhawan here today.
Dr Paul would act as the Governor of Manipur until a new Governor of the State in appointed.
Chief Justice of High Court of Manipur, Laxmi Kanta Mohapatra administered the oath of office and secrecy to Dr Paul in the presence of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, Deputy Minister Gaikhangam, other Council of Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries, MLAs, Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga, DGP Shahid Ahmed and other top officials of civil and police.
Former Chief Ministers of the State Rishang Keishing and Radhabinod Koijam, senior citizens, etc, were also present during the swearing-in ceremony.

After he was sworn in as the acting Governor of Manipur, Dr Paul inspected a guard of honour given with Commandant of 5th IRB HT Gangte as the parade commander.
After the swear-in ceremony, Dr Paul greeted the people of Manipur and pledged to take an initiative role in bringing in development in the State.
It may be noted here that Dr Paul is the ninth Governor appointed newly the BJP-led NDA Government after it came to power at the Centre in May last and the 15th Governor of Manipur.
He replaced the outgoing Governor of Manipur, Vinod Kumar Duggal who had left the state for Delhi yesterday after a warm send off by the Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues.
Born February 6, 1948, Dr Paul was previously in Indian Police Service since 1970 .
Meanwhile, a press release from the Governor's Secretariat said that Dr Krishna Kant Paul has assumed the charge of the office of the Governor of Manipur with effect from afternoon today and he extended his wishes and greetings to the people of Manipur.
