ZU, MU announce final verdict

Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur, Nagaland) and Maram Union have announced their final verdict on the incident of physical assault on Ringsonbou Newmai, a student at Maram in Senapati district during July last.
According to a joint statement, ZU and MU as per their customary laws have decided that the warden of Josephine Hostel, Maram Hingba Mathew shall reimburse all the medical expenses of the victim Ringsonbou Newmai who is now under medical treatment at JNIMS.
The resolution taken during the 5th joint consultative sitting of the two unions on August 13 at Senapati also stated that the warden shall produce a domestic pig in five customary measurements on or before August 16 .
While acknowledging the contributions of many stake holders to resolve the situation, ZU and MU also maintained that their verdict is final and binding.
Any intervention from any group or agency either Governmental or Non-Governmental will not be entertained in public interest, the statement added.
Meanwhile, NPO, SDSA and SDWA in a joint statement have endorsed the decision of the Zeliangrong Union (Assam Manipur and Nagaland) and Maram Union.
While condemning the brutal assault on Ringsonbou Newmai, the three bodies also appealed to all concerned Organizations to avoid imposing of any extreme steps like calling bandh or protest in connection with the issue.
