All license guns in Sadar hills to be confiscated

Responding to the call of the SHDDC leadership to its volunteers to arm themselves, the state government today decided to confiscate all license guns issued to the residents of Sadar Hills.
The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting held today.
The meeting also decided to arrest the Kuki leaders who have openly called on the people of Sadar hills to arms themselves to fight the state forces.
Speaking to media persons, N Biren, Minister, IFCD and spokesperson of SPF said that the government has no intention of blocking the non violent agitation of the SHDDC demanding a full fledged district of Sadar Hills.
But it has taken the appeal made by the Kuki leaders to the general public to take up arms in its agitation seriously and was discussed in the cabinet meeting held today at around 4 in the evening.
He said that to openly appeal to the people to take up arms amounts to an appeal to wage war against the government.
The government cannot reamin silent over this issue.
So it has been decided by the state cabinet to arrest the Kuki leaders to take up necessary legal actions against them.
It has also informed the DGP, Additional SP, Kangpokpi and SP Senapti to arrest them.
Further orders to confiscate the license guns have also been conveyed to the DGP and all concern police stations.
The cabinet meeting further resolved to have another round of talks with the Jiribam District Demand Committee who have decided to go for economic blockade and persuade them not to launch such a form of agitation.
Every possible step will be taken up by the state government to bring in all essential commodities along the Imphal Jiribam road.
The cabinet has further resolved to establish 618 Primary schools and convert 158 Lower Primary Schools to Upper Primary Schools under the SSA.
1236 primary teachers and 478 Upper Primary Teachers will also to be recruited.
Apart from this it was further resolved to recruit another 65 accounts and supporting staffs.
And a Primary School is to be established at a distance of every kilometer as against every three kilometer.
Among other decisions taken by the cabinet include, body builder Nepram Kishan will be promoted to the rank of Jamadar.
Compensation will also be paid to villagers who have been displaced by the construction of Thoubal Multipurpose Project.
One post each of employment officer will be created in the district of Imphal east, Ukhrul and Thoubal.
