NPMHR, others condemn

The Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) and the Tangkhul Peoples Organisation Imphal (TPOI) have also strongly condemned the alleged rape and murder of Vasmi Khaleng.
The NPMHR also denounced the media (print and electronic) that carried brutal images of victim from the crime scene.
Saying that this was against the ethics and practices of responsible reporting, it urged the media to respect the dignity and privacy of the deceased and her family.
The bestial act of rape and murder of a young girl should be condemned by one and all and this kind of heinous crime be removed from the society, and all possible measures should be taken up to prevent such crimes in future, the TPOI said in a press release.
It appealed to the Government to book the culprits and take up exemplary punitive actions against the evil mongers.
The TPOI also conveyed solidarity to the bereaved family.
The Raphei Katamnao Long (RKL) has also condemned the brutal rape and murder of Vasmi Khaleng of Paorei village, Ukhrul.
A press release issued by the RKL urged upon the Government to book and punish the culprits at the earliest.
