Local MLA inspects CHC Kangpokpi following denial of admission to pregnant woman

Kangpokpi, December 10 2017: In the light of the most recent incident regarding hospital authority denying admission to a pregnant woman, Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister, and also the local MLA, Nemcha Kipgen paid a surprise visit today at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Kangpokpi which was recently upgraded to District Hospital .

The matter has come to light after a woman delivered a baby at home without proper medical care last Friday after the CHC, Kangpokpi denied her admission in the hospital on the charge that she was not accompanied by ASHA workers and that she did not possess relevant documents regarding checkup during her pregnancy .

Taking serious notes on account of this incident, Nemcha vehemently instructed not to repeat such kind of negligence on the part of the hospital authority and while raising queries about the doctors and nurses on duty on that particular day .

She insisted that the staff of the CHC should deliver their duty profesionally with an objective to serve everyone in this district at times of emergency.

She also seeked explanation at the earliest as to why such lapse occurs on that particular day .

During the visit, Nemcha also inspected the male and female wards of the hospital and appealed all the staff and patients' families to maintain cleanliness in the hospital.
