Three handlooms protects, Ahongei, Dimdailong and Andro Handloom Cluster Projects were opened today with a function held at Food Processing Training Hall, Porompat in which state industries minister, Y Erabot graced as chief guest.
The function presided over by commissioner (industries and commerce) JC Ramthanga was also attended by director of industries and commerce Nobert Dishinang as guest of honour.
On the occasion, funds amounting to Rs 5,76,000, Rs 6,26,000 and Rs 6,38,000 respectively distributed to the three newly opened clusters, Ahongei, Andro and Dimdailong Handloom Cluster Projects.
Speaking as guest of honour, director Nobert Dishinang appealed the authorities of the three clusters to utilize the funds provided them in proper way for the development of the cluster projects stating that the capital amount invested are mean for income earning purpose.
Kin interest of the handloom workers is a must for successful of the handloom clusters opened today.
Self Help Groups need to be functioned well.
By improving their activities, they should try their best to avail further funds for development and generate incomes.
He said every women of the state possessed the art of handcraft by birth.
Every woman is well adapted with the art of handloom.
Those who do not have the knowledge of handloom weaving, they are like fish in the water.
By introducing new designs which would attract customers, handloom activities can be further improved.
It will also help in getting markets for selling the products.
