Bringing together the delicacies and culinary expertise of different communities from across the State, the second Chinzak Festival was opened today at GM Hall.
The festival is being organised by the Board of Manipur Chinzak Festival under the aegis of the Innovative Youth Development Association.
The opening function was attended by Tourism Minister TN Haokip, Joint Director of Art and Culture Department K Subita, MPCC vice-president Jotin Waikhom and Deputy Secretary (Revenue) Hareswar Goswami as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, TN Haokip highlighted the importance of standard food in tourism industry.
In tandem with the efforts to develop tourism industry in the State, due attention should be given towards developing the unique food items of the State to international taste.
He also emphasised on the need to preserve indigenous food products of the State.
Much to the delight of food lovers and gourmets, altogether 33 stalls offering more than 100 food items and delicacies are being opened in the festival which would continue for 11 days.
