Close on the heels of the commissioning of smart card projects in Imphal West and Churachandpur district, the state transport authority has commissioned smart card project in Imphal East with a function held at the District Transport Office of Imphal East located at Mantripukhi here today.
The commissioning programme of smart card project in Imphal East was graced by N Biren, Minister of IFCD and YAS, L Jayentakumar, Minister Education and Transport, and Kh Ratankumar, Chairman of MANITRON as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister N Biren asserted that the SPF government led by O Ibobi has implemented various developmental activities in the state.
He appealed the people not to misconstrue the government.
The people will be the loser if there is no coordination between the people and their representatives.
No developmental work can be achieved without the cooperation of the people.
Biren said, instead of finding faults against each other, the people and the government should work together towards development.
He appealed the people to correct the faults of the government.
The state should strive to catch up with the fast pace of development taking place around the world.
In his presidential address, Minister L Jayentakumar said, 3397 people have used driving licenses smart card while 6797 RCs have been issued through smart card in Imphal West district where the project was first commissioned.
The use of smart card would help an individual in establishing his/her identity in case of mishap or emergency.
He said, the amount of development of the society depends solely on the amount of cooperation the people give to the government.
All developmental projects would be in vain if the people did not extend cooperation to the government.
Therefore, he appealed the people to extend more cooperation to the government.
