CM, others condole

Chief Minister N Biren Singh has expressed deep sadness over the sudden and untimely demise of senior photo journalist Phanjoubam Santosh on August 9.In his condolence message, the CM lamented that the State has lost an experienced, courageous, energetic and upright photo journalist in his demise.
Born on March 1, 1962 at Wangkhei Meihoubam Lampak, Imphal East, Santosh began contributing photographs to different local, National and international newspapers, magazines and news agencies as a freelance photo journalist in the early 1980s, N Biren said, adding that Santosh was also associated with many reputed media houses like Reuters, Press Trust of India and North East Sun, etc during his illustrious career spanning around 40 years.
N Biren also expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
Khelen Thokchom Trust (KTT) mourned the untimely demise of Ph Santosh, one of the pioneers photo journalist in North East India.
Santosh was awarded lifetime achievement award in photojournalism by NETV in 2005 for his contribution in the field of photojournalism, said a message of KTT.
Manipur Hill Journalists' Union (MHJU) too condoled the sudden demise of Phanjoubam Santosh, who is a PTI photographer and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
