2nd round of National Dewormmg Day launched at Thoubal

With the aim to deworm all preschool and school-age children between the ages of 1-19 years to improve their overall health, nutritional status, access to education and quality oflife, the 2nd round of National Deworming Day 2019 was launched by CMO Thoubal Dr N Jayantakumar in a simple function held at Lalit Madhop Sharma High School in Khongjom for Thoubal district today.
The programme organized by District Health Society, Thoubal under National Health Mission on the theme "Worm Free Children are Healthy Children" was attended by Dr N Jayantakumar Singh, CMO/District Mission Director, DHS as chief guest, Dr Ksh Memcha Devi, District Family Welfare Officer, Thoubal as functional president and Th Ingocha Singh, Headmaster Lalit Madhop Sharma High School, Khongjom as guest of honour.
District Programme Manager, District Health Society Thoubal, Ch Basanata delivered the keynote speech on 'National Deworming Programme' and explained in detail about deworming.
In his speech as chief guest, CMO Dr N Jayantakumar said that the Dept aims to administer Albendazole tablets to 1,10,000 students in 348 schools and 947 Anganwadi Centres of the district in the 2nd round of the National Deworming Programme.
All the children who missed out in the 2nd phase will be administered the said tablets on Mob Up Day to be held on August 16, he added and sought full support from all the Anganwadi workers, ASHA facilitators and teachers to make the programme successful.
ASHA facilitators, Anganwadi workers, officials and staff of health department, teachers and students of Lalit Madhop Sharma High School were present in the programme while deworming tablets were administered to the students of the school by CMO N Jayantakumar.
