Imphal, August 10 2019:
The JAC formed in connection with the death of Ningthoujam Babysana has announced that it will intensify its agitation until and unless justice is delivered to the deceased and the family members.
A press release issued by the JAC today mentioned that it has been spearheading various kinds of democratic agitation since issue broke out.
However, the JAC decided to call the Thangmeiband bandh and the State wide bandh (on separate dates) after the investigation report alleged that Babysana's case was a suicide.
Stressing that it wants the truth and justice for the deceased, the JAC mentioned that till date, it is not pleased with how the investigation has been conducted and pointed towards the supposed attempt to divert the issue towards violation of proper protocol and guidelines by the school authorities instead of finding out the circumstances/people responsible for the death.
The JAC lamented that instead of doing the needful to solve the case, the authorities are busy chasing and arresting the JAC members, which will only lead to further complication of the issue and discontent among the public.
Further stating that the investigation process is also rather slow, the JAC urged the Government to solve the matter at the earliest and punish those involved accordingly.
The JAC will offer full support to such attempts by the Government and the authorities, it added.
