Tourism Dept trying to organize Sangai Festival beyond Imphal: Prithviraj

Parliamentary Secretary of YAS and Tourism M Prithviraj has said the Tourism Department is urging the Chief Minister for organizing some of the events of Sangai Festival in other districts of the State from next year onwards.
He was speaking as Chief Guest of the prize distribution ceremony of Photography and Essay Competitions organised as part of the just concluded Sangai Festival-2013 at his official quarters here today.
Prithviraj further said that the Sangai Festival would not be confined only to Hapta Kangjeibung.
Cultural and other events of the festival would be spread out across all nine districts of the State.
The Sangai Festival would have a brighter look if the Chief Minister accepts the proposal.
More number of foreign delegates and tourists are expected in the next year's edition of Sangai Festival, he added.
The first, second and third prize winners of Photography Competition were awarded cash prize of Rs.25,000, Rs.10,000 and Rs.5,000 respectively along with certificates, while the first and second prize winners of Essay Competition were given cash prize of Rs.6000 and Rs.4000 respectively.
In the photography contest, RK Bullu, L Santosh and M Subash along with A Jayenta bagged the first, second and third prizes respectively in the category of "Nature Including Landscape of Manipur"; L Bushan, M Bishorjit and M Ranjit won first, second and third prizes respectively in the category of "Significant Tourist Spots/Destinations of Manipur"; and N Basanta, Binod Angom and Ronel Seram clinched the first, second and third prizes respectively in the category of "People Including Festivals of Manipur" .
In the essay competition, H Dileshwar and W Henry Chanu bagged the first and second prizes respectively.
