FREINDS lauds State delegations to New Delhi

Lauding the All Political Parties delegation to New Delhi led by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi for stating the aspiration of the people of Manipur regarding border fencing to the Centre, Federation of Regional Indigenous Societies (FREINDS) has urged the delegations to show similar collective political will in the issue of implementation of Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) as well.
In a press statement, FREINDS thanked the leaders of different political parties of the State for clearly revealing the sentiment of people of Manipur on the loss of State territory in border fencing and giving away of Kabaw Valley to Myanmar in the past to the Central Government.
It was possible only because of the collective political will of the leaders of the State, it added.
The leaders would succeed in other issues as well if they show similar unity in future, the press statement said.
The leaders would be remembered by the people of the State for long if they back the voice of the people in other issues as well, the press statement added.
Although ILPS has been unanimously passed by the State Legislative Assembly on July 13, 2012 and June 13, 2013, the State is yet implement it.
The civil society organisation drew the attention of the Chief Minister and leaders of different political parties to discuss and take up steps for the implementation ILPS during the winter session of the Assembly.
