Lamabam Birmani conferred Heisnam Basantakumar Award 2021

Imphal, April 23 2021:
Sahitya Thoupang Lup (STL) observed World Book Day at Sagolband conforming to Covid safety protocol, today.
The observance was presided by Nongmaithem Kirankumar, convenor of Manipuri Language Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi.
During the observance, eminent writer Lamabam Birmani was conferred Heisnam Basantakumar Award.
On the occasion, STL president Tongbram Amarjit stated that Book Day is celebrated recognising the benefit of reading books.

L Birmani also spoke at the event.
Birmani maintained that he is delighted to see many writers showing interest on Manipuri literature.
Meanwhile, Kirankumar stated that observing such an important day in Manipur is indeed laudable.
He also expressed happiness on conferring Heisnam Basantakumar Award to Birmani for his contribution to society.
Birmani is also a recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award, he added.
It may be mentioned that Heisnam Basantakumar was a noted writer of Manipur who had penned two books.
He died at the age of 40 .
