Interaction programme conducted

As part of the Science Communication Programme of Kanglei Khongyang Thijinyon (KKT), Imphal, the first interaction programme of the lecture series entitled "Khangminashi" was conducted today at the premises of Comprehensive Concept School, Imphal.
Dr Thokchom Dewan Singh, Scientist, AERB, Mumbai and Regional Chairman, SFAT, $E India, graced the function as the resource person.
He interacted with the students of the school numbering around 100 and enlightened them with the safety aspects and regulatory norms of atomic energy.
He also mentioned about various opportunities provided by the Central Government for an exciting career in science and technology.
Dr L Jaideva Singh, Director, KKT spoke on the objectives of the centre and the ultimate needs of setting up of a state of art research facilities in Manipur considering the vast biodiversity and natural resources available in the state.
Bicky and Kelvin, present students of IISER, Pune also interacted with the students of the school and explained about the different ways to enter IISER.
They also mentioned about very few applicants from the North Eastern States apparently due to lack of information.
Considering the competitive nature of the selection procedure of IISER, they emphasised on the need to prepare the aspirants right from a very early stage.
The interaction programme was conducted with an aim to have a better interaction of the school students with the professionals in the field of science and technology working in different parts of the world.
KKT, Imphal was setup as an advanced research centre through a joint collaboration of The Longjam Trust, Khumbong and The Meitram Foundation, Imphal.
