Ambassador of Belgium calls on CM

Imphal, May 10 2018:
Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to India, Jan Luykx called on Chief Minister N Biren Singh in his office chamber and discussed possibilities of cooperation in trade and investment, food processing, agriculture, tourism and Smart City project etc.
During the meeting, Chief Minister N Biren Singh proposed to Ambassador Jan Luykx to extend Belgium's support in developing a Football Academy in the State.
The CM said that such a Football Academy would help in honing the skill and ability of young and aspiring footballers of the State.
While explaining about the people's passion for football in the State, the Ambassador Jan Luykx was surprised to learn that out of 21 footballers selected for the FIFA U-17 World Cup, there were 8 players from a small State like Manipur.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh also proposed Jan Luykx about sports exchange programme especially in the field of football as it would help the native sports persons in getting international exposure and training.
Later, Ambassador Jan Luykx gave his assurance that he would pursue the proposal of the Chief Minister with different Ministries of the Belgium Government.
