Tamenglong, May 10 2018:
The Civil Organisations of Tamenglong district submitted a memorandum to CM N Biren regarding public's objection over the location of Jiribam police station within the administrative jurisdiction of Tamenglong district.
A press release issued by Chairman of District Concern Development Authority (DCDA) Tamenglong and Noney districts, on behalf of the people of Tamenglong district stated that an outpost of Jiribam police station is located at Tatbung village with due sign board which reads as "Jiribam police station".
It alleged that the action contributes to the suspicion that a sizeable area is being sliced out from Tamenglong district in forming Jiribam district, which is strongly opposed by people of Tamenglong.
Tatbung village is located on NH 37 in Tamenglong district, it added.
The press statement further stated that, in order to put to rest to the burning suspicion in the minds of the people in Tamenglong, the civil organisations as well as the locals have demanded that the outpost in Tatbung village to be made into an outpost of Tousem police station and not otherwise.
It urged the authority concerned to bring up a corrective measure within ten days while cautioning that negligence on the part of the State Govt will lead to intense public unrest and agitation.
