Imphal, October 07 2014:
The demand for implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Manipur has witnessed a drawback since the All Political Party ILP Committee came to the forefront to resolve the issue, claimed IPAK chairman Sapamcha Jadumani Singhon Tuesday.
Jadumani Singh was participating in a get-together ceremony of the Indigenous People's Association of Kangleipak (IPAK) at Manipur Press Club.
IPAK, which is believed to be an offshoot of the previously existed Federation of Regional Indigenous Society (FREINDS), was set up on August 8 this year.
Speaking on the occasion, Jadumani claimed that major snags have been witnessed in the issue of implementation of ILP system in Manipur since the involvement of the All Political Party ILP Committee in the issue."We should continue with the current ILP movement.
Manipur Government is showing sluggish responsibility towards the ILP issue," he said.
Referring to the ILP movement in Manipur, he said the public demand is the same Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873 now implemented in the states like Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram.
"Our movement will remain in force until ILP is implemented in Manipur," he pledged.
