Commercial activities at Moreh halted

Commercial activities in Moreh town of Chandel district in Manipur was on Tuesday badly affected by the indefinite Imphal-Moreh road blockade call given by Moreh branch of Kuku Students' Organisation (KSO) since 6 pm of yesterday.
The indefinite Imphal-Moreh road section of National Highway-2 blockade has been enforced by KSO, Moreh Branch demanding the Manipur Government to implement its demands relating to infrastructure improvement of Autonomous District Council (ADC), Chandel.
The construction of ADC, Chandel block offices is still incomplete and they have no infrastructure making the Council dysfunctional till date, Moreh KSO president Tingkhang Haokip said while talking to the media here on Tuesday.
"Manipur Government has to fulfill our demands or else KSO will continue with the indefinite Imphal-Moreh road blockade," he pledged.
The State Government has shown its willingness to hold talks with KSO over the issue, he said, but added that all the demands raised by the student body should be met first.
All business-related activities in Moreh were crippled due to the strike on Tuesday.
Passenger service was also suspended.
No private vehicles were seen plying on the route.
