One model residential college to come up in Sugnu: MLA Ranjit

MLA of Sugnu A/C K Ranjit said on Tuesday that the Centre has proposed Manipur Government to set up at least four model residential colleges in the State and promised to establish one such college in Sugnu.
Ranjit was attending the 6th Late Kangujam Mohari Memorial Meritorious Students Prize Distribution, 2014 ceremony hosted by Development Committee Sugnu at Sugnu bazaar in Thoubal district.
In his speech, MLA Ranjit informed that the Central Government is planning to establish as many as 376 model residential colleges across the country.
The Government of India has proposed Manipur Government to set up at least four such colleges in the State, he said.
He promised one such college will be establishing in Sugnu for sure for the benefit of both the present and future generation to come.
Ranjit said Late Kangujam Mohari Prize is given to meritorious students every year to encourage them in pursuing their academic career.
The MLA added his father late Kangujam Mohori took keen interest in developing more educational institutions in Sugnu area and hence he introduced the prize in loving memory of his father.
At the event, 230 meritorious students from Sugnu area, who appeared in the HSLC and HSSLC exams 2014, were honoured with cash prize and certificates.
Kh Nimaichandra, president of Sugnu Block Congress Committee; P Ibocha, chairperson of Sugnu Municipal Council; N Mangi, SDPO of Sugnu PS; A Manihar, president of Development Committee, Sugnu and Principal of Sugnu Higher Secondary School among others who were present on the occasion.
