Imphal, September 02 2014:
Annoyed at the alleged failure on part of Education Department to appoint required teachers and provide proper infrastructure in Ananda Singh Higher Secondary School, Nongmeibung in Imphal East, irate students of the school today vandalized both boys and ladies toilets of the school.
The angry students also decided to boycott classes of the school from today till their demands are met by the authorities concerned.
Prior to the demolition of the toilets, students of the school along with a media team inspected the condition of the toilets and found that proper partition between the the boys and girls toilets situated side by side was not done properly with big holes on the wall clearly visible.
There were thick grasses growing around the toilets with foul smell coming out from it.

Suddenly, some students using axe, hammers and sticks started ransacking the toilets in presence of principal of the school, Sumati who tried to stop the students from going violent but failed to do so.
The principal threatened to call in police but she was pushed away by some girl students.
Then in a dramatic manner, the principal holding her neck herself and lying on ground shouted 'I am being attacked' to alert nearby locals.
Stunned at the principal's act, the students confronted her and asked whether she was attacked by them in any way.
There, a heated war of words between the students and principal erupted.
Later, the situation was put under control after police arrived.
Speaking to media persons, Thoithoi, secretary, games & sports of Ananda Singh Higher Secondary School Students' Union said that students of the school have been reeling under acute shortage of teachers and lack of infrastructure for quite a long time thereby affecting their normal classes and lamented that the Education Department had been already apprised about their grievances but no substantial step has been taken up so far.
He pointed out that the Education Minister himself had assured the students during a meeting on August 6 last that the required teachers will be sent soon and the school toilets which are in pitiable condition will reconstructed but the words of the Minister have not put in action.
Announcing that the students were compelled to boycott classes from today as they are left with no option, he cautioned that any untoward incidents arising thereof should be the sole responsibility of the Education Minister and other authorities concerned.
