Governor, Chief Minister extend Kut greetings

Governor of Manipur V Shanmuganathan and Chief Minister O Ibobi have greeted the people of the State on the occasion of Kut Festival especially for the Kuki-Chin-Mizo communities.
In a message, Manipur V Shanmuganathan said that Kut is considered the biggest festival among the Kuki-Chin-Mizo ethnic groups and it is celebrated as a post-harvest festival for thanksgiving and gratitude to the Almighty for a bountiful harvest.
The festival also symbolizes peace, harmony and unity rising above the barriers of caste, creed or religion.
More people belonging to different communities have also joined in the celebration every year spreading the message of oneness, said the Governor.
He said, "Let the spirit of Kut embrace one and all to strengthen the social fabric more than ever and bring prosperity to all the communities in the State" .
The Chief Minister in his message said that the festival symbolizes compassion, gaiety and gratefulness when communities offer thanksgiving to God for a bountiful harvest.
Ibobi said that Kut was an occasion for celebration and enjoyment of the fruits of hard labour of the preceding months in the spirit of brotherhood and camaraderie that transcend tribes and communities.
He exuded confidence that Kut 2015 will forge a new bond of togetherness amongst the people of Manipur.
