National Unity Day

In commemoration of the birth anniversary of India's first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhai Patel, the National Unity Day was observed at 1st MR ground here today.
The function was graced by Chief Minister O Ibobi and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam as chief guest and president respectively, and the gathering pledged to uphold the country's integrity.
A military parade comprising of Manipur Police, MR, women police, band parties and IRB, and led by 8th IRB CO PG Singsit as parade commander was inspected by the chief guest and the president.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister O Ibobi highlighted the contributions of Sardar Vallabhai Patel in the unification of 565 princely States to form modern India.
Gaikhangam too lauded the immense contributions of Sardar Vallabhai Patel towards building a unified India.
Although many top-ranking civil and police officials were also present at the function, most of the chairs laid out for the function remained unoccupied.
DIG Dr S Ibocha's work 'The History of Manipur Police: 33 AD to 2014' was released by the Chief Minister, the Deputy Chief Minister Chief Secretary O Naba-kishore and DGP in-charge Santosh Mancherla.
