Grenade explodes

Imphal, October 31 2015 :
Suspected underground militants exploded a hand grenade at the Mayang Imphal bazar residence of former Chief Medical Officer, Chandel, Dr Ibomcha today at around 4 am.
Although nobody was injured, the front portion of the house suffered some damage in the blast.
Soon after the incident, a team of Mayang Imphal police rushed to the house and carried out a spot investigation, said a source.
A case has been taken up in connection with the incident.
Meanwhile, a hand grenade has been recovered from the residential compound of Naorem Pakishan (40) s/o N Thanil of Manipur University gate Thongju Part-II under Singjamei police station early today morning.
The grenade was found by Pakishan's 11-year-old son, N Sleking at around 6.30 am.
Pakishan runs a solar lamp shop at his house.
Singjamei police have retrieved the explosive and taken up a case.
Meanwhile, womenfolk staged a sit-in-protest against the incident at Heijingang Ema Keithel today.
Pakishan's wife Thaja said that they have not received any threat or monetary demand from any organisation.
She said that a piece of paper with 'KCP Poirei Meitei and Rame' written on it was found pasted on the grenade.
Stating that the incident has given lots of fear to her family, she urged the concerned to clarify on the incident.
Saying that they are innocent, she also urged not to repeat such attacks in future.
