Laws do not give permission to kill a guilty man.
If a man is found guilty, then he should be arrested and try at the law court for awarding befitting punishment, said secretary, Court Employees� Association Sanasam Shamugou while speaking to media persons today.
The employees of the Guwahati High Court, Imphal bench under the banner of the association today staged a sit-in protest in front of the court complex in protest against the killing of Ningombam Gopal, a great-VI employee of the court by the security men in an alleged encounter last week.
Gopal, mention may be made, was killed by a combined force of Assam Rifles and police commandos on December 23 last in what they said in encounter.
The sit-in protest was staged from 11 am till 4 pm today.
Speaking at the protest site, Samugou referring to the statement of the family said that Gopal was picked up by security personnel in civil dress in the afternoon of December 23 at around 3.25 pm and family were informed of killing him at around 6 pm of the same day.
Even though he was a guilty person, it is wrong to kill him.
Those security men involved in the killing of Gopal should be given befitting punished, conduct judicial enquiry to the killing, said in the memorandum submitted to the chief minister today by the members of the association also.
Sumugou also appealed all concerns to stop killing a man without proper trial.
Slogans like, �We want democratic rule not police rule, how a man abducted from his home be killed in encounter, stop state terrorism, we denounce killing Gopal, award befitting punishment to the killer security men, don�t killed man in fake encounter� were displayed in the protest which around 100 members of the Court Employees� Association participated.
The working of the court was also suspended today owing the protest.
