Jiribam, July 25 2021:
Jiribam MLA Md Ashabuddin has assured of developing the Jiribam-Tipaimukh (J-T) road while asserting that the issue of J-T road is common issue for the district.
According to Ashabuddin, people of Jiribam have long been suffering due to poor condition of the J-T road but hard work of the BJP government headed by chief minister N Biren Singh and the works minister have paid off as project for construction of the road from 0-32km has been approved.
He also said that Rs 114 crore has been sanctioned for construction of the road and this is for the first phase and there is plan for construction of the road till Tipaimukh in the second and third phases.
For Jiribam constituency, minister concerned has informed that construction of the road shall begin within September this year, Ashabuddin said, adding that playing cheap politics over J-T road was very unfortunate as construction and maintenance of road is the prerogative of the government.
He maintained that no one including elected representative should interfere in construction of the road and anyone interested in taking up development work should do so after taking approval of engineers or officials of the department concerned.
Merely supplying two/three trucks of road construction materials such as stone pebbles and gravels and proclaiming it on media would not help improve condition of the road stretch, he said, adding that worst section of the road will be improved with MLA local area development fund after the end of the ongoing lockdown.
About the COVID-19 pandemic, MLA Ashabuddin said that around Rs 30 lakh has been released from his LAPD for the welfare of the people during the second wave of the pandemic and two COVID care centres had been opened from the fund and necessary works are being done in consultation with DC Jiribam.
