ANSAM, NPO, SDWA condemn assault on student leader

ANSAM, NPO, SDWA and Taphou Naga Village in separate statements have in strongest term condemned the physical assault on student leader T Robert Maram allegedly by Manager of Ching-Tam Rice Hotel and suspected armed police personnel at North AOC, Imphal on September 13. The NPO stated that, "attack on tribal leaders speaks volume of the treatment towards the tribals of the state and that, the State Government should react positively by booking those responsible ana punishing them befittingly.
By doing so, it will curb the communal feelings in the state and promote safety of every innocent citizen of the state especially the tribals.
The ANSAM statement appended by its president Komu Sha, has stated the incident has been seriously noted and it termed the incident as despicable action.
While warning of joint agitation against such questioned the misgovernace of the present State Governance and its law and order in Imphal city.
The ANSAM questioned the assault made on tribals by those valley based anti-social communal elements and their motives.
It added that, in case of failure from the State Government to bring out any positive action against those responsible, the ANSAM would be forced to instruct all its units to launch democratic agitation.
The SDWA has termed the incident as "act of communal intrigue to promote disharmony among the different communities of the State".
The efforts of the women's community to promote peace and coexistence are threatened by such inhuman and indiscipline handiworks of the Manipur police and anti-social elements.
For which, the SDWA requested the concerned Minister and department to check such activities and punish those responsible policemen irrespective of tribe, caste and post.
The native village of T.Robert Maram,Taphou Naga village has also condemned the incident and has demanded for early booking of the culprits and delivering justice to the harmless and innocent victim.
Meanwhile, a Core Committee against the alleged life attempt on T Robert Maram has been constituted in a joint meeting of Naga Peoples' Organization (NPO), Senapati District Women's' Association (SDWA), Senapati Karong Area Women's Association (SKAWA), Karong Senapati District Town Committee (KSTC), Senapati District Olympic Association Manipur (SDOAM) and Senapati District Consumer Club (SDCC).
The committee has been empowered to intensify and take up necessary action to fulfil justice denied to T Robert Maram.
