Imphal, February 10 2013 :
With the Union Government remaining silent over the Chandel molestation case even after a delegation of All Political Parties met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde urging them to arrest the culprit Livingstone Anal and hand him over to the State Government, a meeting of the All Political Parties has discussed the matter seriously today.
The all-party meeting which was held at the office of BJP, Manipur State Unit at Nityaipat Chuthek here today, was attended by delegates of CPI, BSP, BJP, MSCP and JD(U).
The next round of meeting has been fixed at the office of JD (U) tomorrow.
Talking to mediapersons after the meeting, Th Chaoba, President of BJP, Manipur State Unit, explained that the meeting of All Political Parties was convened today as the Union Government has failed to keep its promise of arresting Livingstone, a cadre of NSCNK-IM who molested Manipuri film actress Momoko and also assaulting another two male artists during a musical concert at Chandel district head quarters on December 18, 2012 .
A definite stand needs to be taken up over the issue, he stated firmly.
Chaoba also informed that today's meeting had also discussed up-gradation of Panchayat into Intermediate Panchayat to implement the three tier system in the State as well and for devolving more power to the Panchayats.
The matter would also be brought up for discussion in the National Executive meeting of BJP which would be held from March 1-3 in New Delhi and also in the Parliament, he assured.
Chaoba also cited cases in Manipur where MLAs are enjoying the share of Panchayat members even in the implementation of MGNREGS.
