Covid claims one more life, infects 20

Imphal, January 03 2022:
Government bulletins on Monday reported 20 new positive cases of Covid-19 out of 1790 samples tested in the last 24 hours, thus registering a daily positivity rate of 1.12 per cent against 2.42 per cent reported on Sunday.
Monday also reported one death case, which took the fatality toll to 2004 .
The victim was an unvaccinated resident of Imphal West district.
With the discharge of five patients from home isolation (1)and CCCs (4) in the last 24 hours, the active caseload rose to 229 out of which 29 (12.66 per cent) are in home isolation.
There is no updated information on bed availability in hospitals and Covid Care Centres.
Out of the 16 districts, only five reported fresh Covid cases on Monday.
So far, the state has recorded 96,443 positive cases and 1630 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported 55 new positive cases and 2 fatalities while 111 new cases and 2 fatalities were added in the last seven days.
According to official reports, 19 people (10 male & 9 female) out of the 20 fresh cases are from among the general population and one from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were confirmed at RIMS (3), JNIMS (4) and othertesting centres (13).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (9), Imphal West (7), Senapati (1), Churachandpur (1) and Kangpokpi (1) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,25,843 (general population - 1,21,402 and CAPF personnel - 4,441) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,23,610 (general population - 1,19,181 and CAPF personnel - 4,429) and number of active cases is 229 (general population - 222 and CAPF personnel - 7) .
The recovery rate is 98.22 per cent.
A total of 100 D-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, only 524 vaccine doses were administered on Sunday, which took the cumulative number of vaccinated people to 13,25,166 including 9,91,466 fully vaccinated individuals.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (44,179), Imphal East (27,970), Thoubal (9502), Churachandpur (10,195), Kangpokpi (2794), Tamenglong (3284), Bishnupur (9244), Senapati (2251), Ukhrul (3000), Kakching (6454), Chandel (2367), Noney (1076), Tengnoupal (1079), Jiribam (1029), Kamjong (955) and Pherzawl (464) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (673), Imphal East (479), Thoubal (179), Churachandpur (163), Kangpokpi (62), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (195), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (44), Kakching (115), Chandel (41), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 40,555 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,938 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,71,913 tests per million population against the national average of 4,86,260 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.59 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 1790 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 1.12 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 8.59 per cent.
