Imphal, February 20 2012:
The Manipur State Congress Party (MSCP) has lauded the effort of the Manipur Tourism Forum in organizing the Tourism Sports Festival but has pressed the authority concerned to make it a meaningful one.
Addressing media persons, Bheigyachandra Shamuphaba said that Manipur should be made the sports capital of India.
To boost up Tourism in the state of Manipur, MSCP has included the provision to organize the Tourism Sports Festival in its manifesto which was released before the commencement of 10th Manipur State Legislative Assembly Election.
While appreciating the move taken up by the Manipur Tourism Forum in organizing the Tourism Sports Festival, he, however, said that the Goodwill Football Match which was played yesterday at Khuman Lampak between Manipur 11 and FC Kickers, Japan which failed to please the football enthusiasts of the state, thereby, depriving the genuine thrill of an international class football match, was indeed unfortunate.
He further pointed out that there is the need to fix another football match between the Manipur 11 and the real football team of Japan.
MSCP will also help out in contacting the football players of Japan.
The match which was held yesterday seem to be a form of collecting money from the general public, which was not really needed at all.
He also stated that Tourism Festival is not a means to collect money from the people of the state, but to attract more tourists and improve the economy of the state.
