House gutted in fire at Ukhrul

Ukhrul, February 20 2012:
A residential house of Thuingaleng Shaiza (60) was completely razed down by fire at Khararphung locality behind Hunphun Baptists Church on the outskirts of Ukhrul on Monday afternoon.
Eyewitnesses said the fire broke out at about 12.38 pm and took barely 20 minutes in engulfing the house completely.
On receiving the report, two fire tenders rushed in but could not douse the raging fire that was further fueled by the seasonal wind.
The incident took place in the absence of anyone in the house.
Th.Shaiza, s/o (L) Yangmaso Shaiza, a cultivator by profession and his wife were away to the nearby field, while their children were off to the school.
He has three sons and four daughters.
Police stated the causes of the fire could not ascertain and nothing from inside the house could be saved.
The exact amount of property damaged in the fire could not confirm till the filing of this report.
Sources said the neighbours noticed the fire and sounded an alarm, but could not quell it due to scarcity of water in the surrounding area.
