Imphal, February 20 2012:
The 3rd Childeren's Film Festival, jointly organised by Manipur Film Development Corporation (MFDC) and Children's Film Society of India, has kick started at the preview theatre of MFDC today.
Danish animation flick Sunshine Barry And The Disco Worms, Iranian film Hayat, Tamil movie Malli and Assamese flick Tora were screened on the first day today.
Art and Culture Commisioner Dr RK Nimai Singh and Children's Film Society of India Creative Head Monica Wahi were the chief guest and president of the opening function respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr RK Nimai said, many people think that children would enjoy films which are liked by the general people.
However, the notion is wrong, children love to watch flicks which fit into their imagination and thinking.
He added, Manipur has lots of films but the quality is not up to the mark.
There is still need for competition in children film production, he added.
Monica Wahi while speaking at the occasion said, good children films which are produced in English and other languages can be dubbed in Manipuri, so that children of the State can enjoy better.
Although, Manipur has many talented film makers, the number of films is still less, she added.
English movie The Prince And The Crown, Iranian film Hayat, Tamil flicks Malli and Dost Magarmach would be screened on the concluding day tomorrow.
