Imphal, February 20 2012:
The proscribed KYKL has categorically stated that all those students who have been preparing to appear the coming HSLC exam located in hill districts against established rules and regulations should not appear for the said examination.
A press release issued by the outfit's ONK Task Force commander Maj Thoiba stated that the argument to allow these more than 6000 students to sit for the said exam as they have been already given consent is not a valid one.
Rather than saving their career, it would amount to jeopardising their future career.
Against the established rules of the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur, around 1000 students were allowed to appear the HSLC exam in hill schools sometime back.
Further, more than 6000 students have been allowed to appear for the same examination in hill districts, said the outfit.
Moreover, 200 students were transferred from schools affiliated to the CBSE to schools under the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur using forged documents in total violation of all rules and regulations.
According to rules, these students who are preparing to appear the HSLC exam in hill schools should have registered themselves with their respective schools three years back, that is, in 2009 .
But none of the students made the mandatory registration.
To look into this matter, an examination committee was set up with Dr J Suresh Babu as chairman and BSEM Secretary L Rajmohon.
The committee decided not to allow students who did not register in time to sit for the Board exam.
It also adopted another resolution to re-verify eligibility of the students.
But somehow, the students were given permission to appear in the Board exam.
Alleging that the present issue has its roots in corruption practised by some top officials of the board in cahoots with some selfseeking individuals, the outfit warned that these students pushed in through back door by Board should not be allowed to appear the coming exam.
Fitting punishment would be given to all those who violate this prohibition, it added.
