Public meeting

Kakching, October 09 2017:
As a part of the ongoing movement of Coalition of Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) to eradicate drug and narcotics from the State, a public meeting on “Impacts of drug in a society and its preventive measures” was conducted by Progressive Youth Club (PYC), Tampakmayum Leikai and CADA, Kakching district committee at Tampakmayum Leikai Lampak, Kakching Khunou today .
The meting was attended by Waikhong police station OC, Yumnam Joy as chief guest, Kakching Khunou Municipal Council Chairperson Khumukcham Babu as president and ward no 2 Councillor Sarangthem Chaoba and CADA, Kakching district committee president Sorokhaibam Nenna as guests of honour .
CADA vice president Hijam Priyokumar, CADA general secretary Dipanjit Ningthoujam and secretary organisation Mayengbam Budhi attended the meeting as resource persons, conveyed a press release issued by CADA assistant secretary, information and publicity .
Dipanjit, while speaking at the meeting stated that the Manipur Liquor Prohibition act has not been properly implemented while adding that several cases would have been decreased if the act was followed by all .
He further stated that the SC/ST villages who are engaged in brewing liquor have changed the tradition of customary liquor brewing as a means to make money .
He asserted that such people should be served with fitting punishment, according to the law and also urged the State Government to consider the matter as important .
Chaoba stated every necessary measures would be taken up to prevent drug abuse in his respective ward and the areas located under the Municipal Council.
