World Post Day observed

As in other parts of the country, Department of Posts, Manipur Division observed the World Post Day today at Imphal Head Post as part of the National Postal Week 2017 celebration.
The function was graced by KI Singh, Supdt of Posts, Manipur Division; L Kuki, Postmaster, Imphal Head Post Office; L Raikumar Singh, Manager, National Sorting Hub, Imphal; N Biren Singh, PRI (P), lmphal and Y Nilamani Singh, Deputy Postmaster, Imphal Head Post Office.
Speaking on the occasion, Kl Singh highlighted the importance of celebrating World Post Day on October 9 of every year as it is the day when the Universal Postal Union was formed in 1874 in Berne, Switzerland .
He said that the purpose of World Post Day celebration is to create awareness of the role of the postal sector and its contribution towards social and economic development of the countries.
He appealed to the masses to fully participate in the National Postal Week celebrations which include Banking Day on October 10, Postal Life Insurance Day on October 11, Philately Day on October 12, Business Development Day on October 13 and Mail Day on October 14 .
N Biren elaborated on the steps taken up by the Department to minimise the hardship faced by the public in avoiding delay while delivering letters and parcels, booking speed post articles and opening saving bank accounts etc.
