STDCM campaign continues unabated

People from all over the State are taking part in the protest taken up by the Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee Manipur (STDCM) in connection with the demand for inclusion of Meitei in the ST list .
A press release issued by the publicity secretary, STDCM, stated that as a part of the protest, students and teachers of Delta Higher Secondary School wore red badges today .
Voters of Thongju, Lairikyengbam, Yangdong, Kairang, Koirengei who came to cast their vote in the Panchayat election, also wore red badges in support of the demand .
The STDCM also expressed gratitude to the 4000 women vendors of Khwairamband Keithel, members of Mera Houchongba Organising Committee and volunteers of USER MANIPUR, who wore red badges to support the demand for inclusion of Meitei in the ST list .
It further pointed out that the staff of CMO Imphal Est and around 200 people in the vicinity also showed support for the movement by wearing red badges .
Women vendors of Lamlong Keithel also showed support to the campaign .
STDCM further urged the State Government to send a recommendation to the Central Government by October 20 .
Urging the people to remain alert, it added that if the State Government fails to take up necessary actions by the said date, it will have to bear responsibility for any untoward incident which might occur as a result of the protest taken up by the people and STDCM to demand the inclusion.
