The Pukpha (Napthangai) festival of the Nagas was celebrated under the auspices of Zeliangrong Pui Customary Research Committee at Shekenuinn, Tamenglong Head Quarters today.
The celebration held under the motto "Renewing our Culture and Customs" was graced by Dr Kh Sushila, Deputy Director of Manipur State Archives and Guilianglui Panmei, President of Zeliangrong Pui Baudi as Chief Guest and President respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Kh Sushila said that it is important to keep our age old customs and traditions preserved and protected for our future generations.
The present generation is being swept away by the impact of westernization.
They have completely forgotten the traditions which their forefathers have passed down as a result the customs and traditions have lost significance of late in this society.
As such the elders of the society should teach the younger generation on the importance of preserving one's culture and traditions.
Folk dance and other entertainment programmes were witnessed on the occasion.
