Kangpokpi, March 28 2020:
Amidst the complete lockdown imposed due to COVID-19, Kangpokpi denizens got relief yesterday as they were provided ample time to buy daily essential items.
Following Government directives, the district administration, KTC, Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council, CSOs and district police executed the task to open shops and vendors for people to buy essential commodities successfully.
The authorities involved including the CSOs - Kanpokpi Youth Union (KYU) and Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organisation (KWWO) supervised the day to ensure strict guidelines issued to maintain social distancing were followed by the people when they buy essential commodities.
According to an order issued by James Doujapao Haokip, Chief Executive Officer, Sadar Hills Autonomous District Kangpokpi, 21 grocery shops, two gas agencies and one oil agency apart from vegetable vendors were identified for opening their respective shops thrice a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for people to buy essential commodities on a roaster basis by producing their curfew/shopping pass.
One curfew/shopping pass per family was issued for all households under 16 Wards of Kangpokpi DHQs.
The cards have fixed time stamped for people to buy in roaster and to reduce crowding.
Curfew/shopping pass holders were allowed to purchase essential items during the respective valid timing only.
Villages which are not under the Kangpokpi Town Committee are given the option to either furnish the lists of head of the household for issuance of curfew/shopping pass or to recommend particular vehicles, two in maximum, and person who shall represent their respective village for purchasing the essential commodities, said officials.
