TSE, others donate to COVID-19 relief fund

Imphal, March 28 2020:
The Sangai Express has donated Rs 5 lakh to the Chief Minister's COVID-19 Relief Fund to help the State fight against the pandemic that has gripped the world with more than 28,000 deaths.
Nishikant Singh Sapam donated the amount to Chief Minister N Biren Singh in the presence of Sangai Express (Manipuri edition) Editor Khogendra Khomdram at the Chief Minister's office today.
The donation came amidst the complete lock-down imposed following confirmation of a 23-year-old woman positive for COVID-19 on March 24 .

The woman was found positive on her return to Imphal from the UK via Kolkata.
The novel coronavirus has infected more than 614,224 people and killed 28,240 worldwide.
So far, India has recorded 933 cases with 20 deaths, according to reports.
Meanwhile, several individuals and organisations have also contributed to the Chief Minister's COVID-19 Relief Fund to aid State fight the pandemic.
A total of Rs 22,56,000 was donated to the Chief Minister's COVID-19 Relief Fund today.
Awangbow Newmai, MLA of Tamei AC, Namsinrei Panmei, Chairman of ADC Tamenglong and D Ringo, Chairman of ADC Chandel donated Rs 1 lakh each to the CM's relief fund.
The Liberal College Employees Association and Jain Samaj donated Rs 3 lakh each, Sanathan Samaj donated Rs 2 lakh, Manipur Secretariat Assistant Group donated Rs 1 lakh, Shiv Sena Shang donated Rs 1 lakh, Sikh Samaj donated Rs 1,51,000, L Sharat Singh of Sarajeevan Enterprise donated Rs 1 lakh, Koijam Gyaneswor donated Rs 1 lakh, Karam Kashi donated Rs 1 lakh, and Yumnam Gunindro Mangang donated Rs 5,000 .
Chief Minister N Biren thanked all individuals and organisations for their generous donations and assured to fight the disease with dedication.
The Chief Minister also expressed hope that more organisations and people would come forward to fight collectively against COVID-19 .
