Imphal, February 27 2019:
Reminding that the BJP, in its vision documents, had promised to punish those involved in fake encounter cases and that many of its leaders had shouted and vowed to take action against those involved if the BJP comes to power, Socialist Students Union of Manipur (SSUM) has conveyed that it is extremely condemnable that the State Govt is found failing to have given any order or direction to launch an investigation into the fake encounter cases.
Speaking to media persons at SSUM office at Keishampat yesterday, its president S Yaima said that despite levelling numerous charge sheets by the CBI against many security personnel, under the directive of the Supreme Court it has been found that the State Govt has failed to give any prosecution sanctions till date.
Alleging that this is a huge deception on part of the BJP Govt, Yaima said that the issue should not be taken lightly by the people of the State.
The failure of the State Govt to act in a positive manner, despite the steps taken up by the CBI regarding the fake encounter cases, is akin to attempting to shield and protect the killers, he claimed.
Questioning why the Govt has failed to approve the investigation or prosecution of those involved, Yaima said that it is the responsibility of the CM to clarify the matter to the people.
Demanding the State Govt to grant prosecution sanction against those involved personnel, he warned that if the Govt fails to do so, SSUM will not remain silent.
SSUM will make necessary preparations to launch intense agitation with the people, he added.
