Minister Letpao, AMUCO, others extend aid

Water resources minister and Chandel MLA Letpao Haokip distributed one rice bag and Rs 500 each to 1500 households of Sugnu area under Chandel assembly constituency in a programme held at Sokom Upper Primary School, Chakpikarong sub-division on Wednesday.
Speaking at the programme, Letpao informed that the relief items were distributed considering the hardships faced by people due to the curfew imposed for containing Covid-19 in the state.
He further appealed to people to strictly adhere to Covid-19 SOPs as well as get themselves vaccinated and do not trust hearsays about the vaccine.
Meanwhile, in continuation of its programme of distributing edible items, All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) in collaboration with All Manipur Muslim Development Organisation (AMMDO) and United Meitei Pangal Organisation (UMPO) provided edible items to 101 households in four villages of Imphal East on Wednesday.
In a release, AMUCO assistant secretary MM Thambou informed that the items were extended to widows, differently abled persons and poor families at Kairang, Khomidok, Porompat and Kshetrigao.
The programme was participated by AMUCO president Pheirojam Nando Luwang, AMMDO president F M Manawar Ali and UMPO president Adil Yumkhaibam, it added.
AMUCO stated that it will continue to help people belong to weaker sections of the society affected by the prevailing pandemic and so far, in collaboration with other organisations it has been able to provide food items to 3600 households.
Similarly, Ekta Parishad Manipur (EPM) has also been extending aid to people belonging to weaker sections of the society with a team led by EPM state convener Aribam Rishikanta Sharma distributing aid at Imphal East, Thoubal and Kakching districts.
On Tuesday, EPM distributed edibles to 420 households at Thiyam Konjin, Wangkhem, Huikap, Andro Sanapat, Andro Labaojam, Andro Machengpat and Andro Nungyungbi under Imphal East district.
Food items were also provided to 418 families at Nongpok San-jenbam, Oksu Ningthemcha, Takhel, Nongpok Kakching, Leimakhong Pal, Tellou, Chana, Nongdam, Nongren and Nongpok Heirok on June 19.In case of Kakching and Thoubal district, edible items were distributed to 264 households of Wabagai Mairembam Leikai, Lai Manai Chingjin Palen, Nongpok Lourembam, Langathel Chingkhong Leikai, Langathel Moirang Leikai and Lourenmikok Leikai.
EPM has also provided two each oxygen concentrator to Bishnupur District Hospital and SAI Takyelpat Community Home Isolation Centre (CHIC).
On the other hand, JNIMS Department of Surgery Prof N Jitendra handed over 30 oxygen concentrators of 10-litre capacity to the state government on Wednesday.
According to reports, Prof N Jitendra brought the oxygen concentrators with the help of his doctor friends of other states and sent to the state through United Way Bengaluru Swastha Alliance.
The concentrators reached Imphal on Wednesday by flight and were handed over by Prof N Jitendra to chief minister's secretary N Geoffrey.
Prof N Jitendra had already donated 10 oxygen concentrators, six boxes of medical items needed for Covid-19 treatment and three Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure (Bi-PAP) ventilation machines to the government.
