Imphal, September 15 2013:
Instead of coming up with unnecessary remarks at political platform when the State Government is trying its level best to improve the education system of the State, it would be much better to provide useful suggestions and feedbacks to the government, Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro has exclaimed.
Minister Okendro was speaking as Chief Guest of the Award Presentation Ceremony to teachers of Government Schools producing meritorious students during 2010, 2011 and 2012, held under the aegis of Romi Industries, Thangmeiband at the Shanglen of Ima Ibemma Khunthok Hanbi, DM College campus here today.
The Minister observed that the remarks made by a member of a political party which had not been able to bring out a single MLA, holding the Education Department responsible for a qualified teacher who was not able to receive the National Award, was very unfortunate.
It is quite regrettable that such remarks which could create doubts and uncertainty among the teacher community have been made at a time when the State Government is trying its level best to improve the education system of the State.
It would have been much better if proper suggestions and feedbacks were given to develop the education system.
The Minister also pointed out that there were no faults on the part of the Education department over the failure of a teacher to get the National award and appealed to the teachers to be more cautious in such cases in future.
On the occasion, the Principal of Keishamthong High School was awarded a cash prize of Rs 40,000 along with a citation for producing meritorious students during the academic sessions of 2010-11 and 2011-12 while Lamding High School was awarded a cash prize of Rs 40,000 along with a citation for producing meritorious students during the academic session 2012-13 .
