Ukhrul, July 11 2018:
With many ATMs and bank running out of money to conduct normal business transactions in the district, the Ukhrul District Autonomous Council (UADC) has demanded for special arrangements to resolve the problem which has inconvenienced many.
The denizens of Ukhrul has been reeling under many inconveniences due to lack of money in the ATMs and in the bank for more than a month, said spoke-person of UADC Paothing Vashum in a press conference held at the office of chairman UADC, Ukhrul.
At present, the bank in the district depends on the money deposited by the customers to continue their daily transaction.
The bankers wait for customers to deposit money to carry on business, he said.
A SBI branch in the heart of Ukhrul town is the need of the public, he said.
It may be mentioned that various CSOs and locals have been demanding the authorities concerned to move the SBI branch inside the Assam Rifles battalion headquarter, Somsai to Mini Secretariat Office complex, Ukhrul.
Despite repeated appeals made to relocate the SBI branch or to open another new branch at Ukhrul town to ease banking inconveniences, the bank authority have shown no interest and initiative to address the demand, asserted Paothing.
The Ukhrul District Autonomous Council (UADC) urged the concern authority to look into the matter in the district at the earliest 'before unnecessary public uproar' starts.
