Imphal, June 11 2021:
Pointing out that Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had already announced completion of planning for combating possible Covid-19 third wave, All Club Organisation, Association & Meira Paibi Lup (ACOAM Lup) has appealed to state government to take up appropriate measures and plan for combating the third wave before its onset in the state.
In a release, ACOAM Lup joint secretary Th Baleshwar stated that Covid-19 positivity rate continues to surge in the state and the cumulative number of infections has cross the grim 50,000-mark.The average daily cases is around 700-800 cases, the Lup continued, while contending that the government seems to have failed in controlling the pandemic as people continue to go outside despite imposition of curfew.
It is surprising to witness traffic jams in Imphal amidst lockdown and curfew and what is more surprising is detection of Covid positive cases among those who come out in violation the curfew.
The Lup further urged Covid patients who should be under quarantine to remain indoors and those under home isolation to take extra measures so as to break the chain of transmission of the infectious virus.
The release noted that the state government has increased ICU beds with ventilators in RIMS and JNIMS and also installed oxygen plants to combat the pandemic.
Yet, the number of Covid fatalities never goes down despite the efforts of the government, it said while urging the people to strictly follow Covid-19 SOP guidelines.
Increase in positive cases has adding to workload of the health care workers while prolonged imposition of lockdown has been drastically affecting the commoners, the Lup stated and asked shopkeepers not to hike the price of essential items.
Making it clear that remaining indoors, wearing face masks and following social distancing norms could save the land from the pandemic, the Lup exhorted the people not to be discouraged and instead join hands and fight the pandemic together.
Urging those who need help to contact its office, ACOAM Lup assured of doing the needful.
Reiterating the need to prepare for Covid third wave, ACOAM Lup said that the government should make the people understand their preparedness instead of giving just lip servicing.
