Routes for semi low floor buses to be point out

Imphal, January 11 2011:
With an aim to bring a good and luxurious transport system in the state, Ministry of Urban Development will be bringing semi low floor buses in the Imphal area under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewable Mission.
The exact routes for the buses will be chalked out on January 13 in a meeting of Urban Metropolitan Transport Agency.
According to the guidelines of Ministry of Urban Development, the semi low floor buses are meant for only municipal areas.
However, the meeting will discuss whether the buses would be used in greater Imphal areas since the municipal area of Imphal Municipal Council is too small as compared to other states of the country.
The decision of the meeting will be passed to Route Committee and DSP Traffic for translating into action.
MAHUD is the nodal agency for implementing the project.
Urban Transport Fund will bear the salaries of drivers, petrol and maintenance amount for one year.
The maintenance fund for the buses will be included in state plan budget.
Trained and skilled drivers will be selected for driving the buses as it is different from normal buses.
Out of the 24 buses, 15 buses have already arrived Imphal and are now inside the Kangla.
All the buses will reach Imphal before January 20 .
Meanwhile, a reliable source claimed that the traffic jam in Imphal city will be solved by 2015 with the construction of bypass lane around the city.
As soon as constructions of the bypass lanes are completed, no vehicles will be allowed inside the Imphal city.
