Sharmila's bust to be sculpted in honour

For the first time in the history of Manipur, a young sculptor, Nongmaithem Nandaraj Singh of Kakching Turel Wangma, has started working on a life size bust of Sharmila Chanu Sharmila, who has been fasting for 13 years now demanding repeal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act, 1958.23-year old young artist is currently pursuing his Master of Arts (Sculpture) from M.S.University of Baroda.
He is the third son born to Nongmaithem Jhulon Singh and Nongmaithem Ongbi Nandasakhi Devi of Kakching Turel Wangma.
On how the idea of making a sculpture of Sharmila, who has been nicknamed as �Nura Temsingnabi' or more popularly as the �Iron Lady of Manipur', the young artist said he admired the �spirit and determination of Eche Sharmila who has been fasting for 13 years for the repeal of the infamous Black Law known which gives licence to kill innocents by the armed personnel even on mere suspicion.
