UNLF's property forfeited

The Special Court of NIA at Guwahati has issued orders for forfeiture of the property acquired by the United National Liberation Front (UNLF), a banned organisation of Manipur.
The forfeited property included a food processing plant on a 7.46 acres plot.
This was stated by Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde while addressing a press conference at New Delhi today.
He said that the Court has also forfeited the cash amount of Rs 17 lakh seized during investigation.
This is the first forfeiture of immovable property acquired from the proceeds of terrorism under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967. Meanwhile, the Home Minister also said that extension of Suspension of Operation (SoO) Agreement was signed on August 30 at New Delhi between the Kuki National Organisation(KNO), the United Peoples Front (UPF), the Government of India and the Government of Manipur, for a period of one year, effective till August 21, 2014. He further told the press conference that a meeting was held on Aug 8, 2013 at New Delhi under the Chairmanship of Joint Secretary (NE) to discuss the demands of four outfits namely Kuki Revolution Army, Kuki Liberation Organization, Hmar Peoples Convention Democratic and United Kukigam Defence Army.
