MHJU celebrates 29th birthday

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam today said India being one of the most advanced countries in the field of information technology the world simply cannot neglect it in this regard.
Participating in the 29th anniversary celebration of the Manipur Hills Journalists' Union (MHJU) at YMA-Hall Hmuia Veng, Churachandpur district in south Manipur, Gaikhangam further said that information technology helps the RTI Act in spreading awareness to the people on various matters besides the function, duty, provision and policies of the Government.
He also talked about the importance and role of the media in the society, asserting that the Executive, Legislative and Judiciary, and the media are part and parcel of a democratic institution.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Phungzathang Tonsing, Hill Areas Committee Chairman Dr Chaltonlien Amo and MTDC Chairman T Manga Vaphei also shared the dais of the function as Chief host, Functional President and Special Guest respectively.
In his presidential address, Dr Chaltonlien observed that media serves as the eyes and ears of the public and appealed to journalists to act wisely while reporting news.
