Myanmarese held with drugs worth Rs 20 lakhs

Imphal, August 05 2013:
Contraband drugs worth Rs.20.61 lakhs were seized by Customs officials from a Myanmarese national at Moreh while trying to smuggle to the State yesterday.
According to sources, the Myanmarese national identified as Ashong (30) of Sagang Province was caught by Customs Division, Imphal Unit with 2061 methamphetamine tablets under the brand name of 'WY (world is yours)'.
The international market value of the seized drugs is estimated to be about Rs.20.61 lakhs.
It is reported that WY costs about Rs.1000 per piece and it is in high demand in metropolitan cities for use as party drugs.
The arrested Myanmarese drug dealer was produced before the court of the concerned Chief Judicial Magistrate which remanded him to judicial custody.
